CEC to Service and Distribute Innovative CardiArc® HD-SPECT System
SOUTHFIELD, MI– February 4, 2009 – CardiArc, Inc., along with Clinical Engineering Consultants, Inc. (CEC) of Erlanger, Kentucky, today announced that CEC has agreed to provide field service support for hospitals, clinics and physician offices who purchase the unique CardiArc® HD-SPECT system. In addition CEC will provide sales distribution in the Ohio River Valley area.
CEC is a rapidly expanding provider of field service for medical imaging equipment. “We are excited to have this opportunity to support a new segment of customers that are looking to improve their technology,” said Randy Smedley, President of CEC. The CardiArc’s unique design leads to minimal need for field service. “Unlike other nuclear medicine cameras, this device has only two moving parts and generates such little heat that there will be very little “down time” for the imaging facility. We envision only our regularly scheduled preventive maintenance will interrupt patient imaging.”
The design of the CardiArc camera also allows clinics and hospitals to scan patients more efficiently than conventional equipment, yet produces incredibly sharp images. “The physician now has the option of more efficient patient flow, or they may choose to decrease the amount of radiation delivered to the patient with this camera,” reports Jack, Juni, MD, FACNP, Chair and CTO of CardiArc.
The CardiArc HD-SPECT device has been specifically optimized for use in outpatient settings and emergency rooms. It can pass through a standard 36-inch wide doorway, can be used in a 6- by 7-foot exam room, requires no room modifications for installation or operation and uses U.S. or European standard voltage. Power consumption is less than 200 watts.
SPECT is a standard noninvasive diagnostic imaging procedure performed and widely available in most hospitals and some outpatient clinics. It creates very accurate, three-dimensional images of blood flow and function of a major organ, such as the heart. SPECT is highly accurate in diagnosing and prognosing coronary artery disease.
